Cranberry Run Bridge closed through November
The bridge over Cranberry Run on Rt. 159 (Old Philadelphia Road) near Aberdeen is being replaced. It will be closed until late November, weather permitting.
The Six-M Company of Delta, PA was awarded the $1.2 million contract to replace the 78 year old span with a two lane bridge with four foot shoulders. The bridge was closed to traffic in late June with a posted detour requiring motorists to use Rt. 40 and Rt. 715.
When the bridge reopens, there may be lane closures on Rt. 159 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project is to be completed in the early winter of 2009.

Artisans and crafters sought for October’s Graw Days
Havre de Grace Main Street is seeking individuals and businesses who want to display and sell items at the day long Graw Days Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11.
Set up time will be 6:30 a.m. for the out door, event, which will be held in downtown streets closed to traffic.
The Graw Days will represent a colorful time in Havre de Grace’s history, beginning in 1912 with the construction of the Havre de Grace Racetrack, called The Graw. The time frame of the of all festival will be the Roaring Twenties with emphasis on horse racing and horse related items There will be period music and costumes, food, drinking, historic displays, vendors and crafters.
Applicants sought for school ethics panel
The Harford County Board of Education is taking applications to fill potential openings on the school system’s ethics panel. The five-member panel reviews inquiries about potential ethics violations by school employees or Board of Education members. The panel also reviews yearly financial disclosure forms submitted by all senior school administrators.
Ethics panel members, appointed by the Board to staggered, five-year terms, may serve two full terms. Membership is county wide, although consideration is given to providing demographic diversity on the panel. The two year term of one member expires in August, another in January. At least one candidate must be admitted to practice law in Maryland.

August 4 deadline to nominate for Harford’s unsung heroes
Aug. 4 is the deadline for nominations for the 22nd annual Harford’s Most Beautiful People volunteer award.
Being sought are “unsung heroes” whose acts of goodwill have gone unnoticed, who go above and beyond their paid jobs, contributing their time and talents to enhancing the quality of life in Harford County.
All nominees and their guests will be honored at a special program hosted by County Executive David Craig in early October.
