Contestants met for the first time June 21 and got their first ballroom dancing lessons from Tom Rzepnicki and Debbie Howley, owners and instructors at Dance with Friends. Rzepnicki and Howley are donating their time and talents to the cause by training the dancers, choreographing dances and providing costumes.
Lynette Barkley, principal of e2 (Elegant Events), is working with Center for the Arts Executive Director Sallee Kunkel Filkins to organize the fundraiser. The two hope to secure significant business sponsorships for the event as well as big-ticket items for the silent auction. Contact 410-838-2177 for more information.
The Center for the Arts operates from Tudor Hall, 17 Tudor Lane, in Bel Air, but hopes to secure a permanent home, a facility that includes classrooms, arts studios, dance studios, rehearsal spaces, performance spaces, and gallery exhibit spaces, as well as state-of-the-art technical and support spaces – for music, dance, theater, literary and visual arts pursuits.
