Free Havre de Grace Art Show Aug. 16, 17

will heightHavre de Grace might be a new arts & entertainment district, but the city is certainly not new to art appreciation. The 45th – yes, 45th! – Annual Havre de Grace Art Show will be held Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17, at Tydings Memorial Park, adjacent to Chesapeake Bay and Susquehanna River. The show features artists from throughout the country selling original work as well as music, food and children’s activities.

Presented by Soroptimist International of Havre de Grace and sponsored by Chesapeake Publishing Corporation and Big House Signs, the event runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. Organizers say visitors can except to find fine art and handmade crafts, including basketry, drawing, painting in oils, watercolors, pastels, decorative painting on 3D objects, fibers, floral, glass, jewelry, leather work, metal work, photography, pottery, ceramics, sculpture and woodworking. Several craftsmen will be working onsite to demonstrate their techniques.

Musical entertainment is being provided with assistance from the Maryland State Arts Council and Harford County Government, through the Harford County Cultural Arts Board. The Harford Book Festival also is presenting several musicians and authors. One of these performers will be Will Height, who is pictured above.
