Vendors Needed for 11th Annual Swanfest 2009

(Bel Air, MD) - - Vendors are needed for the Harford County Department of Parks and Recreation’s Swanfest, which will be held October 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Swan Harbor Farm.  Located on the Chesapeake Bay in Havre de Grace, this family fun event includes children’s activities, musical entertainment, mansion tours, canoe rides and demos, Renaissance re-enactors, petting zoo, handcrafted goods, great food and more.  Only non-commercial vendors will be allowed to register for a single 11x11 space, $30 or double space, $45.

“Swanfest is one of the nicest fall festivals for the family in the area. There will be food, crafts, entertainment, art activities and demos to please all ages.  It’s also an opportunity to visit one of the loveliest sites on the water in Harford County,” said Committee Member Karen Tegges.

Harford County purchased the 531-acre estate in 1994 for inclusion in the county’s open space preservation program. It officially opened to the public in 1996.  Situated on the banks of the Chesapeake, the estate was initially the home of several generations of the Giles Family in the 1700s. The most significant owner was John Adlum, who purchased the farm from Thomas Giles in 1797. During his tenure at Swan Harbor, Adlum pioneered wine making in Maryland.

Swan Harbor Farm, in addition to being part of the Harford County Parks system, is a popular rental facility for weddings, business meetings and special events.     For more information about Swanfest, directions or renting the facility, call 410-939-6767 or visit www.swanharborfarm.org.
