SHA begins MD 7 repair project, motorists urged to plan for delays December 16, 2009 On Dec. 17, the Maryland Department of Transportation¹s State Highway Administration (SHA) began a $185,000 project to repair pavement along MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) between MD 543 (Riverside Parkway) and MD 136 (Calvary Road) in eastern Harford County. Crews are patching roadways along sections of MD 7 through late February, weather permitting. During construction, sections of Philadelphia Road between Riverside Parkway and Calvary Road will be reduced to one lane with flagpersons controlling two-way traffic within the work zone. Lane closures and flagging operations may take place at any time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Patching work and lane closures will not occur on the Christmas and New Year¹s holidays. This project is made possible through Governor O¹Malley¹s aggressive management of the requirements of the landmark American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This project, together with other ARRA projects, is stimulating Maryland¹s economy by preserving and creating thousands of jobs. The State¹s contractor for the project is Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium. Remember that work zones not only are large construction projects possibly taking years to complete, but include smaller, mobile operations such as mowing, pothole repair and litter pick ups.
